Croxdale, Hett and Sunderland Bridge are three small villages 4 miles south-west of Durham City. The history of the villages in question is diverse dating back to the Norman period, right through the Industrial Revolution to the present day.

Though the history of Hett and Sunderland Bridge is more rural the history of Croxdale was born through industry. The old A1 road bisects the villages and adds another dimension to the history of these sleeping treasure troves.
