The Pont Valley Network is a small charity based in the village of Dipton. However, we are unlike other village based groups in that we have an interest and undertake projects in all Communities and areas around the Pont Burn valley. Our constitutional aims are;

  1. To bring together individuals and organisations who are interested in preserving the beauty and heritage of the area for future generations.

  2. To raise awareness of the exceptional heritage and diversity of flora and fauna contained within the Pont Valley, with a view to promoting the area for educational purposes, and for tourism.

  3. To determine a role for the Pont Valley in creating long term sustainable, economic, social and environmental benefits for the Valley, the area surrounding it, and the residents of the area.

  4. To ensure that any development in the Pont Valley is sensitive to the environment, the wildlife, the natural and physical history of the locality, and to the benefit of the residents and visitors.

  5. To actively oppose any development in the Pont Valley that would hinder any of the preceding aims.

  6. To actively comment on/ support or otherwise any development which assists the preceding aims.

The Pont Burn rises in the village of Dipton and joins the river Derwent at Hamsterley Mill. The valley forms most of the northern slopes of Pontop Pike.
