Sedgefield Local History Society was founded in 1987 as one of the many sections of Sedgefield Community Association (SCA), a voluntary organisation set up in the late 1960s to cater for a wide variety of hobbies and interests.

SCA is based in Ceddesfeld Hall, formerly Sedgefield Rectory, an imposing Georgian building set in extensive grounds, built in 1793.

Sedgefield Local History Society aims to:-

  1. promote interest in local history, particularly that of the Sedgefield area

  2. organise meetings with guest speakers

  3. encourage historical research in the area and record outcomes
